I have two coated leather sofas, in cream. They don't belong to me as I live in a company apartment and are very expensive. They have quite a deep grain to them and are getting quite grubby. I have tried colourless shoe cleaner and kitchen cleaner (!) Nothing gets them quite as new. Any ideas?

Pale leathers quite often suffer from dye transfer, the transfer of colour from clothes like jeans and newspapers. You will need a strong detergent cleaner like LTT Maxi Cleaner to remove this. This product has been specially formulated to remove dye transfer.
Shoe cleaner will not have done your leather any good and may well have sealed in the problem, if this is the case you will need to get a specialist leather cleaner in to resolve the problem as solvents will need to be used. Kitchen cleaners will have the wrong formulation for cleaning leather so will not work.
On pale leather you need a good leather protector to inhibit this kind of problem and a regular clean with a good foam leather cleaner will help to keep your leather looking like new.

My local BMW dealership sells Lexol leather cleaner and conditioner, which is what they recommend customers use on the car's leather interior. I've used it on mine and it seems to work pretty well. The bottle says it can be used on any leather item, so it's not limited to just car seats. However, I'd call a local leather furniture retailer to see what they would recommend you use.
