Hi: They can live about 5-7 years. I had a beautiful GP named Sonny, tan abysinnian with sworly hair. He got up to almost 3 lbs, really fat and he was greedy. Always gnawed on cage and squeeled in the morn at 6am for feeding. Vet had weighed him. When he got 4.5 years his appetite seemed to start slowing down. Also his bottom jaw sunk in gradually. At about 5.5 he died of natural causes at about 11 pm. I had taken him to vet at about 9:30 pm and they had offered to euthanize him for me but I could not do that. I have my third GP now. His name is Jamie and he will be 4 in November 06. They are really sweet animals.

The average is about 3 to 4, commonly 5 is a good innings. The last one I had as a kid (Zebadee) was 6 when she died.....she was one of the babies of the school GP we looked after during the summer hols from school.

3-5 years....8 years for the really well cared for ones. I hope my Angel and Baby will live that long. Sorry for your loss.

They live for about 4 - 8 years. So sorry about your pet...

We had one for 3 years & 2 months. It was not a baby when it was given to us. I don't know how old it was. Sorry about your pet. Remember the good squeaks!!

I believe they can live up to 8 years. Mine was 3 when she died.

about 3 to 5 years.. sorry about your guinea pig.. we have 2 of them and they are almost 3 years old.
