Micro-organisms such as bacteria DO develop and grow in your make-up as you continue to use the same product over time. Not only in your mascaras, but your blushes, your lipsticks, and especially in the brushes that you use to apply your make-up. Just by looking at your mascara with the naked eye, you won't see anything alive and moving around, but if you use a microscope...the bacteria that accumulate over time DOES indeed look like little bugs crawling all around. There's no need to feel grossed out about it because micro-organisms are all around you but your best healthy choice is to replace your old make-up every two to three months and NEVER, NEVER share it with others. Take care of YOU.~(WINK)~

I have never heard of bugs in your mascara. I do know bacteria can grow and you should throw your mascara out every 2-3 months.

Microorganisms are commonly called bugs... kinda the slang term. That's what she was told. And yes, it's true. We all have hundreds of different microorganisms all over our bodies. That's why you are not supposed to share your mascara- you risk getting an eye infection.

Not 'bugs' exactly, but old mascara does develop bacteria and should be replaced frequently to prevent eye infections.

That's probably what she means and just misunderstood when someone said bugs get in your mascara. It is a good idea to throw mascra away once it's a couple months old though.

Yes, I've heard that too, it's why you are supposed to change to a new mascara every month.

I don't know about bugs, but you can get eye infections from mascara, especially if you share them

No, I have never heard of this but if you leave your mascara on the dresser or whatever then it is likely that will happen.
