A linear foot is essentially the same as saying one foot. In most DIY (do it yourself) stores such as home depot or Lowe's, linear footage is used as a way to advertise or price a product that comes in non-standard lengths. One common example is crown molding or carpet. For example, a store might sell you a 10-foot-long strip of carpet for 10 dollars, or a 15.30-foot-long strip for $15.30, etc.
So basically, to calculate linear footage - simply measure the wall(s) (molding being the example) and add together. So a room measuring in at 10 by 12 would be 10ft + 10ft + 12ft +12ft = 44 Linear feet. **Note: Square footage is calculated by multiplying length times width.

Linear footage is basically the measurement of whatever it is your measuring. For example, if you measure a piece of moulding and it measures 8 ft long, then it's 8 linear feet.

Linear foot is just another way of saying 1foot. It means one foot in a line vs a square ft which is 1 linear ft long x 1 linear ft wide
