If it's a real conflict, let it go, you won't change their mind. And, you might lose their friendship while trying

God says too keep trying(If your into God). In reality politics and religion are the two of the most arguable topics known too man. If the person you are arguing with is religious give up. You would have better luck putting out the sun with a glass of water than changing someones religious beliefs.

We, in America, have proven you cannot let it go. Decent Americans have allowed ignorant and hateful conservative Christian white-trash to take political control.
You cannot deal with scum like this as if they are human, because they, in fact, hate all of humanity except those that live in the special perverted world.

That is exactly why the Founding Fathers created a secular government. They were afraid a day like today would come when religion would gain political power and bring down the government, destroying the US.
Here are their collective and documented exact words:
“As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion”

It probably depends on the subject in question, the conviciton of the other party in his position and your relation to the other person. Also, if I've heard your argument, considered it, and decided I still prefer my original viewpoint, continuing to argue your point will probably only make the other person dig in their heels and hold that much stronger to their views.

Just let it go. If the person that disagrees with you is as steadfast in their beliefs, as you are in yours, it's unlikely that you'll change their mind. Life is just too short to waste time trying to convince the inconvincible.
Who's the bigger fool - the fool, or the one arguing with the fool?

Let them know your opinion, and if you really feel strongly state your reasons why. But there comes a time when you can talk and scream all day and it won't change anything.

Agree to disagree, and move on.
Remember,,, disliking a persons opinion doesn't mean that you must dislike the person.

depends on how strong their thoughts are and how old they are. But, in general, you're never gonna convince them. Just agree to disagree.
