Well, if the show Deadwood is historically accurate, I'd say it's about the same. I think that it's achieved a bit more social acceptance. What I find is that the more I hear it, the more I use it.

Without a doubt,yes. Some people don't have a very big vocabulary,so they use a swear word to replace the one they don't know.

Yes. People are less inhibited and are more likely to be rude. Also, some groups use swear words as adjectives. Too bad because they come off as uneducated and stupid.

I would say no. Nowadays people are more conscious of their actions, than say 50 years ago. Just my opinion :-)
