Lots of people do some caffeine during pregnancy, and their babies turn out fine. However, you are right that the chocolate has caffeine and should be eaten in moderation as with coffee. The doctors disagree on how much is safe. Some say none and some say no more than 2 cups of coffee a day or the equivalent. Keep in mind that babies (inside you and out) process caffeine much slower than adults so they are more likely to get a build up of caffeine in them when an adult isn't.

You are just being a concerned mother-it's natural! Work on limiting yourself-all I wanted was reese's cups. So I limited myself to 3 mini ones a day (most of the time). If you have a day you go a little crazy its ok-your child will be fine. You won't be a hippo when the child comes-remember a good portion of the wieght you gain is baby/fluid. As long as your take some prenatal vitamins and be sure you have enough nutrients eating chocolate is fine! Good Luck! :)

Yes. A little bit of chocolate never hurt anybody but moderation is the key. Now Caffeine is bad for pregnancies in excess but if you have a little it's not going to hurt you. If your body is used to a high caffeine intake it'd be wise to slowly lower the caffeine level to avoid withdraw.

Don't worry about it. Caffeine is not recommended during pregnancy, but the amount in chocolate is not equal to a soda. I had never even heard the caffeine thing with my son and I ate enough chocolate to fill willy wonkas chocolate factory. I gained quite a bit of weight, but he was perfect.

Caffine, in moderation, according to recent studies is completely safe. 2-3, 8oz cups of coffee is what I was told I could drink.

try substituting something healthy instead of the chocolate. the chocolate will not hurt you or the baby, just try to eat it in moderation so you will not gain all that weight.
