I just returned from Butuan. All you need to know is this: Everyone will stare at you, they will think you are a millionaire, and the beggers will jump over buses to get to you, and if it is hot it will stink because they have open sewers. Also it is not very clean.

The best place to eat is the Pizza Hut in the Gaisano Mall. It is clean.

Also a place called Weegol's is ok. If you order soup make sure there are at least 5 people with you because they give you about a gallon of it.

Be prepared to take multicabs or tricycles everywhere. Don't tip at restaurants. Don't show your money.

If you are going there to meet a woman I would make one suggestion. Don't make any commitments until you look around a little. There are some of the most beautiful women you will ever see there, and many of them will want to get to know you.

Personally, I suggest a trip to your local library or bookstore and browse through a Philippines Travel Guide.

But since you did ask for websites:

Lonely Planet

Philippine Dept of Tourism (Turn down your speaker volume 1st, click on "discover philippines" and browse through "culture"
