My son is almost 4. He broke his elbow on July 30th. There was no healing after 3 weeks. They went in a put in to pins. Just got them out yesterday after having them in for a month. There is still not much healing going on. Has anyone else heard of this or gone through this before?

Elbows are one of the 2 most difficult breaks to heal properly. There is an excellent chance that the elbow will never be perfect. I've seen many broken elbows while in school, and they take a very long time to heal sometimes. Often, broken elbows will require several surgeries to gain the best possible outsome for the patient. Be patient with the doctors. I'm sure they're doing all they can do to heal your son. It takes several sateges of surgery sometimes to heal these complex breaks, it simply cannot be done in a short period of time.

It happened to one of my niece's twin boys. Jake is just 7 and he broke his elbow in the first week of July. He needed pins and plaster for 6 weeks and visits the hospital every few weeks. Jake still can't touch his shoulder with his hand,so the doc said it will be about another month before he can do this, and that he has broken the bone that takes longest to heal

I did break my elbow falling off of a skateboard! I had a sling for about a month, but never had physical therapy. It has taken years for it to heal, and it is still not the same, my arm doesnt open all the way. So make sure he goes to physical therapy.
