I go out of my way to try and buy american made products. I have more and more trouble finding these products to buy, so I assume that most people do not make the effort. I believe that this is the only way to keep our country strong and keep americans working. I would like to know what everyone else thinks and why.

I think we should give American made products the benefit of the doubt. Of course we should just buy junk, just for the sake of buying american. But when quality is equal, which most of the time it is at least as good if not better, then we should definitely support American companies who produce their products here. I also think that we should expect products that are made here to be more expensive. If you think about why the foreign products are cheaper I think you wouldn't mind paying a little more. Child labor, wages that amount to dollars a day, enslavement of impoverished people, poor and dangerous working conditions, no environmental restrictions, massive amounts of pollution, no benefits what so ever. These are the reasons we have these cheaps products to buy. So, don't we have a moral obligation to not support those companies which have these conditions. Even more reason to buy American I think.

Sorry, of course we should not buy junk. That was an error.

I buy the best quality product and I make the effort to get the most value for my spending dollar. If an American made product fulfills that goal, then so be it.
Look at the electronics in your home, how many are made in America, by Americans? Most are made elsewhere from foreign parts or assembled elsewhere. The companies go with cheap labor and boost their profits as much as they can. Good luck with your quest though.

I buy products that offer me the best value. Being made in America isn't a requirement for me. I'm certainly happy to see when an American company doesn't expect patriotism to be its main competitive advantage and works to produce the best product available that provides me with the features and benefits that I value. But, I'm not going to support an American company that doesn't do this just because it's American. That's kind of like letting a thief steal your possessions just because he or she is American. "Hey - I got the short end of the stick on that one, but at least my dollars are staying in America." Doesn't make much sense, does it?

You're in contradiction with your own statement!
You stating "Do you buy American made products, but that you're stating that you" go out of your way to try and buy American made products." Than you also say that you want the only way to keep this country strong and keep American's working? "
Well, if you're an American, you should know to support American based products. Too many products are already being spread out of this part of the continent because of fair trade! If you want American's to keep working than support American made Products. At least this will give us job security. Rather than purchasing products that were made overseas, cheaper and made by "slave workers" for cheap labor. Does this answer your question? I think you hung your self with posting this question? Is just me that knows how to think and read between the lines?

I buy a combination of price and quality. I don't care where it is made.

Liberty is the only way to keep America strong. Where goods are made has nothing to do with it.

I buy whatever has the best quality. I am not going to buy something inferior just because it was made here. Many "foreign" companies employ americans, such as Honda,Toyota, Isuzu etc.

i'm british and do not buy anything american. i disagree fiercly with your imperialistic foreign policies & your governments ethics. So for this reason i boycott them. when you say american products, do you mean Nike, etc. look at the label closer, they where probably made in third world sweat shops. I have nothing against the individual american, just the ruling classes.

u don't have to worry about that. most of products are outsourcing to other countries. we call it OEM products, but the brand still owned by amercian. Just change the way to work.
