If an African American ran for president, it would be safe to assume that he/she would earn most of the black votes. Or whites voting just for whites, or latinos for latinos. Is this racism?

I dont think it is racism, more of just voting for someone who you think might relate to your issues more.

If that is the ONLY reason the candidate got the vote, then yes that vote is racist. The same as if a white man only got a job because he is white. If a black man only didnt get a job because he is black. If race is the deciding factor of any decision, then it's racist.

If the vote is cast with just race in mind yes, but if he or she happens to be of your race and you feel it is the best person for the job no.

if you're voting the candidate just because of race, yes. but it's not inherently racist to vote the best person even if (s)he happens to be the same race as you are

why are you racist? Just vote for the person you are confident would do a good job. It's got nothing to do with race silly! You must be one yourself to assume that black vote for black and vice versa.

I don't know about racist but it sure sounds stupid you have to vote for a reason not a race.

If I were you I wouldn't worry about this until you have to make the choice. There would probably be other things you'd like and dislike about the candidate, such as party affiliation, and perhaps their record of public service.

IMO, it would, indeed, be racist to vote for a candidate based solely on ethnicity without regard to character, qualifications and platform.

I think it depends on which party you align yourself with, but just using race to determine who to vote for is not racist, its retarded

I'm a racist, but do not let that interfere with my politics or business.
