Why has the price of diesel fuel not dropped??? Regular in NJ is 2.39 Diesel is around 2.69. Since diesel is the same has home heating oil and is not refined as much as regular gas why then is it so much more. I remember when gas was around 1.50 Diesel was .99

Thanks
Dominick

Supply vs demand. Refinery capacity has not increased in 20 years, due manly to their permitting process and not in my backyard attitudes of local govt. Also I think refineries have been mandated by our govt. to produce lower sulfur diesel fuel, so they are in the expensive process of converting.

IF the price of gas in general was taking a permanent drop, then diesel would do the same. HOWEVER, the oil companies are just appeasing the general public on a temporary basis due to the outcry recently when the top executives' salaries and benefits were disclosed.

There is an election in November. Gasoline has dropped so the republicans can get re-elected.

Diesel is purchased by businesses and the cost is passed on to us via price increases that we just pay. It doesn't sway the vote.

Because the oil suppliers have found out that they can charge that amount and get it. Diesel is much more raw than gasoline, it makes no comon sense. Maybe it's because we use so much
