I am open minded and understand that people are going to have differing opinions and I respect that. I just may not always grasp where the closed minded person is coming from.

It is because they are hypocrites and not truly open-mined. Once they can criticize others for being how they are, then they are not open-minded.

Maybe they are open minded with them until they realize that the person they are dealing with is stubborn and that further debate is futile. After all, how long should a dead horse be beaten?
