i installed windows xp on my computer about three days ago and now it is trying to run windows xp and 2000 at the same time and i don't know how to delete windows 2000.

2 things - edit boot.ini in C:\ and delete from there everything (2 lines) for windows 2000. file is read only so first change it to make corrections. And 2 - delete Windows, Documents and settings and Program files of 2000. Don't make mistakes here or you will loose XP

You should format your drive to take Windows 2000 off before you install Windows XP. If you want to use both programs then you can Partition your disk and place a copy of one program in each of the partitions. Then you can use either.

It sould have over writen the old programs so 2000 should not exsist any longer. I would bring it in for a tech to check it out.

have to reformat drive again and just install the xp

Safe mode go into the boot.ini file and delete the 2ooo OS.

START FRESH
REBOOT INTO XP INSTALL REMOVE ALL PARTITIONS CREATE NEW PARTITION RE-INSTALL XP
