Get a product called "Goo Be Gone".....not only did it remove week old hair dye from light carpet, but it seems to remove everything from anything! It also removes grease from clothing, ink from clothing and other stains from carpeting. There are directions on the back for different things if you just follow these it works wonderfully! Also it has a wonderful orange smell!

I am not sure about the Goo Be Gone but I am a Cosmetologist and any time I have gotten hair dye on clothing and or carpet I would use PRIMA TINT or CLEAN TOUCH. Call a local beauty supply and ask if they stock it. Cigarette ashes will remove hair dye from skin as well but I am sure I would use that on carpet. Good Luck!

bleach the spot (using household bleach carefully) and then buy any kind of hair or fabric dye (similar to th color of the white carpet) and carefully apply to the carpet using a small brush

If you spill something that is likely to leave a mark on carpets or other fabrics, before it dried in spray hairspray over it, this stops the spill from soaking in, it's much easier to remove.

dye your hair in the same colour as the carpet, and stand in the exact same spot when you did it when it happened
