Well I'm assuming you're referring to actual building of suspense or tension, not just in your face gore and shock cinema technique. If that's the case, 'Henry : Portrait of a Serial Killer' actually made me want to leave the lights on. Something that IS mostly gore and shock technique that I liked anyway is "the devil's rejects', the more recent Rob Zombie movie. A modern day western taken to the extreme, and the movie's style appealed to me. Happy viewing- the balcony is now closed.

The Ring kept me awake for weeks. Also Black Sabbath, but I was 8 when I saw it. =D Those demonic possession/exorcism movies don't scare me... I guess the ones that scare me most are psychological, like the Ring (but the Grudge didn't scare me either) or they have big jump-out factor... where the bad guy jumps out at you.

The omen . It really scared me . i'm a big fan of scary movies . But when I saw that i couldn't sleep for weeks.

the 1st "Nightmare On Elm Street" scared me back when I was in High School and then the Grudge totally freaked me out I would not watch it a second time LOL
