I know it depends on what degree you have, but generally speaking, do starting pe teachers make the same as starting science or history teachers?

I am a high school English and German teacher. The answer to your question regarding PE teachers is yes. They do start at the same salary as the rest of us. They are required by state and national standards to have a degree in their field. I tease our PE often. What does he do? He plays ball and physical games all the time and gets the same pay as the rest of us. What do I do? I grade essays.

As long as the teacher in question has the same degree and experience, there is no difference in pay between teachers of any subjects. In addition, teachers are often required to teach outside of their field of expertise anyway, so a history teacher could easily end up being a physed teacher.

The salary/remuneration for a particular job is the market value for a particular profession and designation at the city/town where the office is located. Job postings at websites like Monster, Yahoo HotJobs and Careerbuilder carry information about salaries. The Govt Dept of Labor, (www.bls.gov) Bureau of statistics has information about median salaries for different professions and details of additional compensation offered. Other online resources are salary.com and payscale. Your salary will also depend on your educational qualification and how you handle your career. it all depends on the state the school is in, plus the pay grade. What you would need to do is locate the school district website and then locate the school and their website then look for a link for employment opportunities, a pay scale should be in there.

My guess is yes, unless they have a Ph.D in P.E. or something. They are no more inportant than history, so why should they be paid more?
