I am 28 yrs old, no children, told had endometriosis (mild) when i was 20. I took BC for 11 years, stopped feb 2005. We have been ttc for about 3 months. I had an HSG done and they said I have no blockage, both tubes were good. My dr put me on clomid 50mg and i took them days 3-7 of cycle. Today I had an ultrasound and she said I had two follicles on one side. Said one was very good, size was 25-31mm. and said the smaller one was about 19mm. She told me of my increased risk of multiple birth, and gave me the shot of P.>-%, whatever it was. She said to have intercourse today, sunday and tuesday. I would like to know if anyone knows how big the follicles are supposed to be? What are my odds of getting pregnant?? I've also been drinking the robitussin for the past 3 days. Any tips to make this successful?

On clomid a mature follicle is usually anything over about 20mm so on 25 and one 19 is great. The shot they gave you was most likely an hcg trigger shot to make the follicles ovulate. After the shot ovulation happens in 36 hours so get busy having intercourse. The odds of conceiving in any given cycle is about 20%. One other thing--if the shot they gave you was to make the follicles ovulate then do NOT take a home pregnancy test anytime for next 2 weeks as you will get a false positive.

It sounds like you have a really good chance of conceiving. I had a clomid baby, but it took me 6 cycles and a final dosage 100mg. With clomid you tend to ovulate later than on a non-drug cycle (if you ovulate at all on a non-drug cycle). I would have sex every other day for a while, or at least until 1 day after ovulation is detected. If you do not conceive this time I would suggest starting the temping method. This will help you determine if and when you ovulate. A great book is Taking Charge of Your Fertility.

Good luck!

Clomid doesn't always work on the first try. I took it for 4 months before getting pregnant. I don't know the details of how big follicles should be or even about the injection your doctor gave you (my fertility doctor was a jerk and didn't tell me anything.) Don't give up if this month isn't the month. Good luck!
