Bit torrent is just a protocol. You need a progam to allow you to download files using this.
Either get utorrent from http://www.utorrent.com
or morpheus http://morpheus.com/
Then go on a site which lets you search and download files - http://www.mininova.org

Presumably you need to be using utorrent
