I'm making a DVD (home video) for my in-laws and my parents. I'm trying to get as much cute stuff that I can but I don't really know what to capture. All of our family lives far away and our son is seven months--so we want them to be able to see him--even if it's not in person. I have video of peek-a-boo, him playing in his exersaucer, and bath time. Now I just don't know what else to film, any ideas?

I also have a big cheese as a son. Even at seven months he knows to pose for the camera. How can I get him to act natural?

How about breaking it down into categories?
What would your parents like to see?
- Day Time
- Nap Time
- Night Time
- At the Park
- At the Zoo
- Eating Ice Cream
- Holding Favorite Toy
- Favorite Animal
- What the crib looks like
- What the front lawn looks like with infant
- What the backyard looks like with infant
- What cars you drive with infant
- Favorite hang-out spot
You can try to be informational with your pictures so that it would answer questions your parents and relatives would be curious about regarding where you live.

If you want some candids of him acting natural, try setting up the camera on a tripod and leaving it turned off for a while. Let your baby get used to it being there, and he will ignore it after a while. Then you can sneakily turn it on and capture him being real. (this worked for my son who was a total ham!) Don't worry about the grandparents, they will be thrilled to see their grandson regardless of the type of activities he is involved with in the DVD. Try some video of tummy time or mealtimes, and don't forget a few shots of him sleeping like a little angel!

Honestly...anything and everything. I film my daughter sleeping, eating, playing...but the things i try to really catch on "film" are new things she does. LIke sitting up, crawling, walking, etc.
I have a super hard time getting my daughter to not try to take the video camera from me any more. I haven't shot all that much with the video camera for months now. But, when she's doing something cute, i flip on the video mode of our digital camera and catch a few seconds of video. Then, i'll email that out to distant family and the love seeing anything. Last night, my daughter climbed up onto a chair for the first time, so i got a short video clip of that, emailed it out, and got rave reviews.

These are grand parents they want to see everything. make sure you get a few shots of baby sleeping, or those really fun diapers that overflow if you can shot dad cleaning that up they will love it.
If you all attend church one of you dressed ready for church and in the first halloween out doing activities. Tape his face when you light the tree up for the first time. Eating once your child starts eating tape the introduction of new foods and things he loves to eat or playing with the cherios. Have fun they want to see the special stuff as well as every day life.

I did this for our family last year at Christmas. They also live far away. I had a new baby last year so we took tons of pics. We put the pictures on a DVD to the song "Miracle" by Celine Dion. There wasn't a dry eye in the house.

Feeding time is always cute, especially if he's trying to learn to feed himself. If you have other kids or pets to show him interacting with, that would be good. Keep the camera on him as much as possible, you never know when he'll make a face or blow a raspberry. Don't forget to get footage of him sleeping, my mom loved seeing my daughter sleep, even if she couldn't be holding her at the time.

how about sleeping? Holding a toy they sent--
eating, playing in the floor, anything he does will be adorable. Also include yourself and baby's dad. Enjoy this wonderful time in your lives.

i would try to get him jst as soon as he wakes up from a nap or something, generally when he's just in a good mood. but a good angle would be to lie on your stomach on the floor when he'son the floor, it always lookd cute that way. good luck!
