A little simple math:
You are falling at 32ft/sec/sec (not taking into account the friction of the materials involved.) Depending on the height of the fall let's assume when you are fifteen feet from the bottom you are traveling at 100 feet per second. If you jump at the right time (how you would know this inside a sealed elevator is another variable not considered) you would jump up at about 2 feet per second. Therefore your net falling speed would be 98 feet per second. You will be killed a millisecond after everyone else.

The only way to survive would be to jump such that you instantaneously achieve the same velocity (or very close) as the elevator car, only in the opposite direction (assuming you jump at the exact instant the car hits the bottom). Of course if you managed that, your body would either be crushed against the ceiling of the car, or pass through it. Assuming you pass through it, you would fly up a certain distance, then fall back down. Between the ceiling, the 2nd fall, and the incredible forces required to accelerate you to whatever speed it would be instaneously you would die.

No in any respect... Otis famously made the 1st device for raising a enhance/elevator good.... the cables are related to a pair of leavers on suitable of the automobile....whilst pulled they launch the catches on the two area permitting the automobile to upward thrust or fall... if the cable fails the leavers fall lower back in place and the catches safeguard the automobile to the climate of the shaft...it can't be moved until eventually a sparkling cable is attached and pulled. it fairly is this entire device that made development over 6 thoughts severe achieveable. playstation video clips at the instant are not authentic... user-friendly, a boy can't fly, Spiderman isn't authentic, there never have been extraterrestrial beings in area or one earth and the human beings did not win each and every conflict they have been in on their very own.

I was really excited at the prospect of your experiment until I read the last line! You will be traveling at the same rate of speed as the elevator, so unless you can dissipate that kinetic energy somehow, you will be injured when you impact with an object.
It would not kill those in the elevator, but they will not be in the best of moods either.
