Whenever I get my period, I get really bad cramps in my thighs and in my butt. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do about it? The cramps in my butt make it so that I can't even walk.

It could be from pressure - with PMS there is usually swelling, fluid retention, and that could put pressure on blood vessels going to the legs, etc.
It helps do do the following to prevent PMS and other associated symptoms:
- limit salt intake
- drink plenty of water
- get plenty of rest, and
- start taking one Vitamin B6 tablet and one Calcium/Magnesium tablet a day
Do all this from around a week before until 3 or 4 days into the period - it will help with the fluid retention, tension/depression/nerves, and helps with cramps & things.
Be sure you get enough potassium and calcium in your diet, and if it gets worse, see your doctor.

I used to get cramps so bad that I could not even get out of my bed, it was the worst pain I have ever felt in my life. I went to the gyno and she put me on birth control, and ever sense I have felt so much better, I dont even get them. You really need to go in and talk to your gyno first, there could be something wrong.

if reg. aspirin or midol doesn't work, u could try seeing the doc for a pres that might help. of course, u should see ur gyno reg, anyway so why not just make an appt & figure out what ur options are.

Unfortunately, it is normal, particularly in the thighs. I get them, though my bad areas are my lower abdomen and lower back. Ibuprofen - lots! I take 600mg at a time, even though they recommend 400mg!

Try doing some stretching like yoga to help relax the body.
