If you go to www.myrtlebeachlive.com you can look at different hotels/condos to stay in and also see some of the entertainment. I live in SC, and I love going to the beach. If you come prepared then there is plenty to do. The last time I went I stayed at the Myrtle Beach Martinique Resort Hotel (I am thinking it has changed it's name since then). It is not in the middle of everything so you can actually sleep if you want to but it is only a 15 minute drive.

Hi;I vacation in Myrtle Beach every spring. I just love it there. I have stayed at the Sea Dip and at Holiday Inn at Pavilion (not part of chain of Holiday Inn's). The latter is a little closer to downtown stuff and is a tad more spendy. The Sea Dip is very affordable and nice if you stay in the oceanfront high rise, not the original motel (I look for types g and h on their site www.seadip.com). I liked it because it was a litttle quieter away from the action but you are still close enough to things. The Dayton House looks nice too and if you want even cheaper, I am looking at staying at the Driftwood next year myself.
My rule of thumb for eating down there is to avoid the chains. I never go where I know I can go at home. If you like seafood the two best "Calabash" buffets are Original Benjamins (if you are lucky you will find a buy1/get1 coupon in the Myrtle Beach newspaper. The other good one is Crabby Mikes in Surfside.
And don't pay anyone to send you coupons. You will see tons of them in every strip mall and even the airport once you get there. I used them alot for dining but not a whole lot for shopping. There are also golf coupons and some of the mini golf coupons are good deals and they have fun courses. Sadly, the Pavilion, the main downtown attraction closes for good after this season. So I don't know how happening downtown will be in 07. Good luck and if you want more info, please feel free to email me. Oh yeah, my favorite bar is Pier 14, go listen to Robert Cooper sing, request "Under the Boardwalk" as it is just getting dark over the Ocean. It's the most perfect ambience anyone could ever ask for.

Breakers Resort on Ocean Blvd. is very nice. As far as things to do there is so much to do! If you like shopping there is a bunch of shops on Ocean Blvd. or you can go to the outlets at Bare Foot Landing and you can shop, pet an aligator and have your picture taken with a tiger all in the same trip! And of coarse there is the ocean!

Becareful when you go. I went around july/august and it was DEADDDDDD there was nothing to do. Just sit on the beach the bars where empty. Make sure you do some research on peak season if you want to see people.
