It was Sleepwalk by Santo and Johnny, for sure.

For some reason, the song "Sleepwalk" is going through my head (although it's been awhile since I saw the movie.) It's an instrumental with a sort-of whining guitar. Not sure if that's the one you're thinking of...

UPDATE - i just looked it up, and "Sleepwalk" was by Ritchie Valens (I didn't even know that) so I think that's definitely the one you're thinking of.

ONE MORE UPDATE - although I'm seeing it attributed to Ritchie Valens on some sites, I'm also finding it as having been by "Santo & Johnny" so I'm not sure of the real story. It was a few years before my time.

the fellow who replied with the shamrock avatar change into strong and her/his record is especially spot-on. those which have Sha-Na-Na listed are 'college Dance' songs and the significant songs for that were Born-to-Hand-Jive ( all started the dance), Hound canines ( Riz & her 'date' ought to depart the floor) & 2 others ( now I even ought to pass watch the action picture back because that's gonna trojan horse me). in case you haven't seen Grease II than I advise it, because it really is humorous as heck and has a mushy Michelle Pfiffer ( won't be able to spell her call to maintain my cover). Connie Stevens ( she's a singer from the 50's) is in it and enables furnish some sexually comedic ( no quite sex yet a lot of suggesting/hinting) alleviation. humorous yet stupid.
