This is a good question. If I am at home, then I assume the hair is mine or whoever helped me cook, so I take it out and resume eating my dinner. I figure it is no worse than what could be in restaurant food. The world is not a sanitary place, but we do the best we can, right? But you asked if you were out to eat- I would send the food back, and go to the restroom and puke.

That has actually happened to me. I lost my appetite. I did tell the waitress and I got another plate and my meal became free.

I lose my apitite , One time I found hair in my Icecream and I threw up.

I loose my apitite and then I get the waitress/wator and tell them what I found show them what I found and demand my money back.

Keep eating. Hair is good protein. And look at it this way, you didn't have to pay for it. Kind of like a semi-free lunch.
