They best way I've found is to get a sprinkler with a motion sensor.

Another method is to embed sharp things such as plastic fork (tines up) in the soil. Unfortunately, this makes it difficult for humans to walk, as well.

Some people say to sprinkle hot pepper (cayenne), but it only lasts for a while.

what you do is go around the garden and pick up all the cats mess, then you have to put 'silent roar' around the edge of the garden in little piles about a foot apart. Silent Roar is found in most garden centres and is made from the essence of big cats pee, the wee visiters will think you have a big cat in the garden, remember though you will have to top up you the silent roar often to keep it working! good luck

Keep him/her locked out out of the area. If that is not possible, squirt it with a hose. You obviously can't be near the cat and garden all the time, but if you initially do that on the ocassions you do seem it playing in the garden, the cat will get the notion that if it goes near, it will get wet.

Put lion poop in your garden - the cat can tell it comes from a scary son of biatch cat - and won't dare do it's business there in case the bigger cat catches it....that's the theory.
The biggest drawback is availibility of lion poop....and the fact it smells far worse than average cat poop.
Cats hate mint, strong citrus smells and being sprayed with water...you get a big water pistol. Spray it a few times it will soon find somewhere else.

i've worked in a pet shop for 2 years and this question always comes up.

Cats only piss n shite in gardens that aint theirs so what can ya do.

Go to ya local pet shop and ask for some cat repellant crystals for the garden, a company called reppers makes good uns at only £2.99 a decent sized bottle.

Sprinkle it around your garden as instructed and there ya go, downside is you have to do it every few days.

Other than that there is something called renardine which smells like burnt wood but really its lion piss, soak it in rags and dot it along your fence, it'll last longer but costs about £7.99 a bottle.

B &Q ( uk) and major garden centres will sell you ultrasonic cat repellers. My mum has one in the front and one in the rear. Work a treat until the batteries go. They cost about 30 UKP

All cats hate anything that is a citrus smell, if you put almond oil(10ml), with grapefruit 3 drops ,with 3 drops patcholie, sprinkle this around your garden you should find that the cats will be detered.. if it doesn't work put orange peel or orange oil around your garden ..it should work..

Try to catch it in the act, and squirt it with the garden hose or a water pistol, it will find somewhere else to go. I had a problem with cats visiting to watch my carp, but they don't come now.

Most pet stores have repellant spray that is designed to keep dogs & cats off of furniture. It would probably work in a garden, too.
