Tell them as soon as possible that you aren't coming. Blame it on illness and they really can't say anything.

The only implication I can think of is you will not be considered for any positions within the company again. This is not an uncommon situation for employers/HR. They get rejections and rescinded 'acceptance' letters very often. Just make sure you let them know as soon as possible.

Since you have done it in writing, you have entered into a legal contract to start work for them.

You MUST tell them of your change of decision as soon as possible. Do this by phone and then follow up in writing, and by doing it in writing, this will cancel your previous letter, and protect you.

Make sure you apologise, and that you hope they have a replacement lined up. If they ask why, though you are not obliged to disclose why, you can say its is another job, you don't feel suited to the skills needed, you may not be able to meet their requirements, but do not use illness, or can't be arsed, or criticise them. That way, they'll let you off easier.

Remember, you don't know where people can end up, and you may regret that in your future.

If you are in the UK and have not yet taken up th post then contact them ASAP to let them know you have changed your mind.

If you have started then there will be a notice period you may have to work out.

Either way you will not be in any trouble unless the contract is for a fixed term where they could demand specific performance.

This does not usually happen and they will normally let you go without any problem.

I once got two jobs at the same time. The one i accepted was in a place i did not like and it had less money. I phoned them and told them that at that particular moment it was not good for me to work for them. I apologized sincerly and told them that i wished they would get another candidate. I took the second job. They were not cross with me they kept on asking whether i would change my mind and work for them. They even asked what the other company had promised me. Do not be rude to them. you may end up working for them or maybe the company you will work for may end up being bought buy them.

There are no implications. You have not signed a contract, and even if you had, there is a probationary period in every contract and most don't require any notice to be given by either party.

Certainly tell them as soon as possible. You don't have to fib about illness (they may say 'We'll wait till you're better'!); just say that for certain reasons which you would rather not go into, you can't accept after all and just be very apolgetic.

Call the person in charge and ask about the pay and just say it does not meet ur demand, so u can't do the job.
