On the whole, republicans are very closed minded and rather ignorant. They believe that everything outside of their beliefs is wrong and/or immoral. Judgemental people concerned with controlling others rather than their own miserable lives. Thoughtless followers for the most part. They believe that pointing out the so called "flaws" of others makes their own shortcomings invisible. Unfortunately, it seems the majority of Americans are not smart enough to see through this act.

I dislike blanket statements, not all republicans are homophobic. There are republicans who are very socially conservative and some who are just downright hostile to gay people. Then again there are live and let live republicans who believe that what consenting adults do in their own bedrooms is no ones business but their own. Making statements such as all republicans are homophobes is similar to saying all democrats are anti military or anti business. Its a vast generalization that is far from accurate. For the record, I am gay and have voted for candidates in both parties.

Because most republicans are conservatives and most conservatives are old and set in their ways. Most old, set people are out of touch with reality re gay/ lesbian/ bisexual/ transgender people.
Think about it your parents or grandparents are 100 times more likely to say something ignorant about GLBT people. It's because they never knew anyone openly like that. These days it's more open and people in general are more educated especially younger people who might know a GLBT person. The good news is GLBT discrimination will diminish over time just like racial discrimination has since the KKK haydays

I'm a conservative Republican and not "homophobic" in the least. We actually have a number of homosexual friends.
But that doesn't matter, because your question is only trying to smear, attack and malign people you disagree with. It's less intellectually rigorous to spew invectives than actually research, discuss and honestly debate actual issues.
But I won't hold my breath waiting for intellectually rigorous honest debate on Y!A from the DNC-drones.

Just because you don't love homosexuals doesn't make you a homophobic. Most conservatives are Christians and the Bible condemns homosexuality. Most of America is against gay marriage anyway, conservative or liberal.

You're gay!! That explains everything...I wondered why I was scared of you.
Why do you ask such hackneyed questions? Come on! Do you think you can generalize just a little bit more? Can you?
