ear aches are commonlly cured using urine from a parent. Urine is sterile and still to this day is used in 3rd world countries when they have no sterile water during surgery. You just drop some down into the ear adn 10 minutes later...you have a new baby....Yes I have tried it...works wonders and you know, you will try anything when you have been up all night with a screaming kid. I even used it 2 or 3 times for myself.....works like a charm..Even old people will tell you this.....Good luck

Just speculating, but since modern medical science has shown that the complication rate for acute ear infections in children6 months and older, the best treatment for cave people would be to simply sooth the child. Now we have pain relieving drops and Tylenol and Motrin. Far too many doctors still use antibiotics, but the best evidence is that antibiotics cause more harm than help in most cases of acute otitis media (common middle ear infection).

Club the baby for crying?? I guess they would have had their own form of medication.
In this age, there is a leaf, I think it's called "Wonder of the world" that work wonders for an earache. Gently heat the leaf and squeeze the liquid in your ear. So chances are they might have used that also.
That leaf - if you put it in a book and leave it there it sprout roots and you can just put it in soil and you get a plant!!

I've never heard of the urine thing....
I had a child with constant ear infections... and i found that a warm washcloth helped ease the ache until the prescriptions took effect.

most babies that got sick then died. Still to this day in Hawaii, we have luau rituals for the baby's first birthday. It is a huge thing if a baby lived to be a year old.

Well, obviously, all we can do is speculate, but the birth rate was so low, the probably died of a cold at times. The body would have to make that decision.
