my boyfriend and i have a really good relationships etc. We have been together for over 4 years and lately when we watch tv and see a really pretty girl he says, "you could look like that." (more of the flat abs etc.) I'm 5'6", 125 lbs and have never considered myself overweight but being a girl im self conscious about myself. He then will say "oh and i can look like val kilmer" which shows he isnt perfect either. what does this mean? does it mean that he isnt happy with the way i look or if we BOTH worked harder we could have perfect bodies? please only serious answers and not smart A*% ones.

From your physical description it doesn't sound like you are over weight. You should be concerned with your body fat composition not a number on the scale or an imagine in the mirror, your health is more important that those things. Odds are if he is making those comments he is either 1) being very superficial and trying to change you or 2) he has become self conscious about his weight/physical appearance.

If you are 5'6" and only 125 lbs, then you certainly don't have any excess fat on you. Maybe all you need to do is firm up some. Actually, we all need to workout everyday some, just to stay healthy. But you should ask yourself why the boyfriend is saying anything derogatory to you. Are you yesterday's leftover toast? Four years is a long time to have a "boyfriend" If you are not out of school you might consider that you could use some more experience in the dating department. There are a lot of very nice young men out there who would appreciate you. And if you are out of school, then dating someone for four years is a long time to give someone without more commitment than just dating.

My husband says that when he stops looking he will be dead. Both sexes like looking at nice looking members of the opposite sex. This doesn't mean he wants someone else its just nice to look. I get mad at my husband for looking but I know that I look too. If he wasn't happy with the way you look he wouldn't have spent four years with you. Don't be self conscious I would kill to weigh 125 and be as tall as you. You are quite thin. If you want to get healthier you could suggest that you walk together for cardio fitness and we could all use that. Unless he goes blind your man will probably always look..........................

guys! their stupidness nese ceases to amaze me.. honey.. he doesn't mean anything but he did a wrong thing telling you that. Guys just don't realize how talking about other females affects us - girls. we wouldn't say the same comment if a handsome guy appeared on TV. They don't realize that they are hurting us but they just doing instinctively without thinking. but since he commented on his body too, then that's less harsh. Forget it about it, he means nothing. he is just ignorant about such matters. you can bring up the subject to him and tell him to hurt you. this way he'll know what he'd done.

the only thing that really matters is that your happy with your self.you don't sound over weight to me. if your Boy friends comments bother you then confront him. ask him if your body bothers him. if it does then you need to decide if your happy with your figure. if you are then tell him he needs to learn to love it or ....... if your not happy with your body then take measures to improve it like a healthy diet and exercise.
