If you are not happy then why stay in a relationship that is miserable. There are all kinds of reasons to leave: needs not being met, abuse(physical, mental, verbal), cheating, lying, insensitivity, etc... If you are tired of trying and you have nothing left to give just get out. Only you know if you are through or not. take some time and figure out what you want in life. Make a list of the pro's and con's in the relationship and see which one outweighs. If the good outweighs the bad then maybe you might want to try and work through the issues. But if the bad outweighs the good then break it off, it's not worth it.

When you're asking a question like this-it's a good indication.
2 years is way too long. Cut your losses and move on. Maybe try to find out why you did what you did. Professional counselling can be invaluable.

It's time to leave him if you need to posts questions asking if it's time to leave. Obviously you are looking for "permission" to leave. If you're not married, you're not obligated to stay with him forever. Why waste your life hoping for changes that never come?
Why have a boyfriend if you're not enjoying him, your relationship, and you're not moving forward together? I'd rather be alone that with someone who makes me unhappy or wastes my life.
Leave.

Did you two talk things over? If so, and it still doesn't work then it is a waste of time for you two to be together. So just let him know that love don't live there anymore.

When you're not happy, he's holding you back from growing, he's not growing himself (loser) and if you are into growing, ofcourse. If you're both not into growing then it's ok. He's abusive toward you, could be anything from not caring or calling you names in a subtle ways that you think he's kidding but really not. There are many many more. Read my book if you want more info.

When you can no longer talk to him because it doesn't matter what he has to say, it's time to leave.
When you no longer miss him when he's not around, it's time to leave.
When you find excuses not to see him, it's time to leave.
When you ask, "How do you know when it's time to leave your boyfriend?" It's time to leave.
