Take a piece of rubber....
put it under a heavy object (eg a cupboard) for about a month...
after one month... remove it... and throw it on a garbage heap... let it be there for about a month more.... and during this period you will have enough money to buy a new mouse pad...
Cheers!!!

First off decide the design you wish to use or find a image on the web etc to put on the pad. then buy a kit which is for making mousepads here in the UK u can buy them if ur not from uk i guess your local stationery shop will sell these kits which then u basically print the image onto a paper type of thing then it gets moulded onto the pad (check manufacturers instructions in the kit for doing it). They retail for around 9.99 here for a single mousepad if thats not what your after try a company who prints designs usually those places that do screen printing or flyers etc may do a custom service for that or if its a photo u want then simply take a look at your local photo processing place they may do a service for this.
hope you find what your looking for.

I can think of a ba zillion things to use to make a mouse pad.
I actually work at a furniture store and we do custom so we have books of leather samples that are the perfect size for a mouse pad. I have chosen a bunch of sweet colours and actually used a wood burning tool that i have (i do lots of art) to burn cute borders on them. ( I have tons of these samples lol if you want some) I gave them away to everyone i know that has a computer. You don't even have to decorate them...they're great
Other than that what comes to mind is that childrens foam paper for kids. Its a sheet of coloured foam. You can find it at any arts and craft store....prolly even at toys r us. and it comes in different colours not really thick but i think kids would cut out shapes and kinda build with it. I'll try find a site. to show you. So i would take that foam and glue fabric on it (just like a real bought mousepad!) Or if you don't want to buy or have any fabric (opld clothes would work) i would use just paper...maybe some sort of card just for durability. Then you could draw anything you'd like on it. hope you understand what i mean.....have fun !!

Buy a small board of cork. Take a nice photo and print it off on an A4 piece of paper, making sure the picture is roughly in the centre. Then laminate it if you can, if you can't don't worry too much. If it is laminated stick it down with some arts and crafts PVA glue. If it is not laminated, this glue will run through and smudge the ink. In which case you will need to use your normal UHU glue, or a pritt stick glue stick.

You don't really need a mouse pad anymore so you can use just about anything you like. Take a picture you like and laminate it or find a fabric with a print you like and glue it to a heavy piece of cardboard. Decoupage (buy in any craft department) pictures and or fabric to a piece of thin wood. You can make so many different designs this way, with your own personality written on them. You can do about anything you want in these ways. Have fun and make several.

Take an old Frisbee and mix a small amount of glycerin with it and pour it in the Frisbee and set it where the mice normally are. Put some kind of bate on it and when a mouse steps on it he will not go anyplace and call his buddies for help. you may get several in one night.
Well that is one kind of mouse pad. Everyone else told you how to do the other one.

I used the placemat at the dinner table last night.
You can use Microsoft WORD for crafts. I like MODGE PODGE for decopouge projects.
Not only is there more than one way to skin a cat, there's more than one way to make a mousepad!

Take any uncopyrighted picture, to your local photoloab (ie. CVS Pharmacy's Photolab Dept), and order a mouse pad to be made from the picture.
You can use a copyrighted picture, only if you are able to get a "Copyright Release Form" filled out by the photographer and/or studio, who did the work.
Note:
A copyrighted picture does NOT have to have the copyright symbol on it anywhere. Any picture that looks professionally made because of backdrops, lighting, etc..; will be considered copyrighted material.

You might want to invest in a new infra red mouse that does not have a roller and not require a mousepad. I find it works great and you don't have to worry about staying on the pad, the roller clogging up, or replacing nasty-looking pads.
