I can't answer your question, but I know the problem with runners is that you have to keep picking them when the pods reach about 8 inches, otherwise the plant stops producing beans. Sometimes you don't pick enough for a meal, but you have to pick them anyway.

My fridge always has a few flacid runner beans hanging around too! They seem to last about 4 or 5 days.

not quite sure how long they will last in the fridge, but they seem to last for quite some time in the supermarket. A tip from one of my gardening books was place in a water tight container with cold water placing the cut end down in the water, the book doesn't say how much water but I would think just enough to keep the ends wet. A bit like putting cut flowers in a vase of water I suppose. Hope this helps.

If its a sq. or rectangular shape its going to be a suitable backyard (symetrical shapes, rapidly edges). if it extremely is the case, i could propose putting a raised border everywhere in the backyard (3-4 ft huge). Use railway sleepers or a low brick wall ay your restrainers and infill with topsoil. Then disguise that soil with Mypex (black semi-permeable plastic) and unfold your mulch or gravel on impressive of this. Then go with your plant life. you prefer all 12 months pastime so look for some evergreens first (Your initiating plant life) then you definately can %. and choose for spring and summer season pastime or maybe incorporate herbs (varieagated lemon thyme is my customary). desire that provide you with some help :-)

3-4 days, if you are not eating them straight away, top and tail them with knife, plunge into boiling water for a minute, drain and run under cold water and freeze them in a plastic bag. About 3-6 months then!

Best to eat them straight away - better to pick them as you need them. Alternatively, as soon as you pick them, cut them up and blanch them, then freeze straight away.

If you have enough beans, freezing them will see you all through the winter and they will taste fresh everytime.
