i recently replaced the injectors in my car and now the car goes straight to 5000 rpms on startup. i have a custom chip to handle the larger injectors, i have no vac. leaks, everything is hooked up correctly, replaced the tps and iac even know everything was fine before and still nothing helps. i'm all out of ideas. PLEASE HELP!!!

this is on a 93 3.1 cavalier

Try removing your " custom chip". I have seen aftermarket chips cause the PCM to do really weird things when they become faulty.

Justin, this is just a side-note to your question. I don't really know what's causing the high idle on your engine, but if your car is idling fast even when your transmission is in DRIVE you may not be able to stop your car if you come up on a stop light and there is loose gravel or water on the street. The power of your engine at high idle may overpower the brake system and your brakes will not be able to stop the forward motion of your car. I only suggest that you be aware of that and take care of the high idle soon.

Sounds to me like your idle arm might be broke. Or, even though you say everything that you put in the car will work in harmony, something might be off. 5000 rpms in a 3.1L is not good. That's almost red lined.

my guess the comp has to reset itself drive it around for about 5 miles and let me know how it is!!
