I'm a recent watcher of the show, but I have only watched last season's finale, and this season's opener. Can anyone tell me what the title of the show means?

The definitive medical reference book is "Gray's Anatomy", originally published in 1918. All 1st year med students are required to read it. It is their Bible.
As stated above, the main character of the TV show (though, arguably, not the most engaging or interesting) is Meredith Grey, a surgical intern.

Meredith is one of the main characters. Her last name is Grey. Her mother was also a doctor in that same hospital who had an affair with the Medical Director, who was married and still is. He is the one that has wife that asked him to retire on the season opening show. Meredith's mother now has Alzheimer's and was a patient for a while at the hopital.

If you go to google and type in "Grays Anatomy" (yes, an "a") then you'll find information about some kind of book written by some guy called Gray. I'm assuming that's what its based on.

its about this woman named Meredith Grey and her life and also the lives of her friends/ interns who the same job she wants and its all bou life and relationships and the good bad ugly beautiful everything and basically she is and intern going throuh life inside the hospital and outside the hospital
