I live in a house that at this time i rent, with the understanding i will own when they retire.(land lords are my parents) Nexted to my house aprt. are being built. When planing and zoning came in they said that the road next to my house will have to be widen. I have three trees nexted to the road. I was told that the two trees closest to the road would be cut down but the one nexted to my house would stay. Well the tree cutting people took all three trees. they said they had a work order to do this. So do I suck it up because i do not own the land yet or can i suw for a new tree?????

Sorry for the word nexted. i was upset the tree was just cut down. But the tree was $600 and has been here for 16yrs. I have lived at the house for 16yrs. And I was just told that it isn't my land that I am not to care about anything that happens to it.(by my husband and my father)

I am sorry about your trees. It's a shame when nice old trees are cut down in the name of progress.
Talk to a lawyer.

Tip: Nexted is not a word.

If you don't own the land, you can't sue for the trees. After all, the trees don't belong to you.

Your parents would have to sue, if they wanted to. Or, depending on their financial ability, it might just be cheaper to plant new trees.

and yeah, that "nexted" is a bit annoying, sorry :)

Get copy of the cities work order for the job. And sue the tree cutters.

Your parents would have to take the lead on any lawsuit.

You likely have a case... but it isn't worth it unless you can show the tree was very valuable or its removal have damaged your property value.
