There are more of them around than usual this year. The experts say that its because we had a really hot dry summer, which helped them to breed, followed by a lot of rain, which gave them a lot of leaf mulch to feed on.
I hate them too! I know that they are harmless, but they're just creepy.

ye i meen i was goin to the shops 1 day and walked over a patch of grass and about......160 were swarming in the air
yeeuuuk uurrrgh i gess the only thing to do is keep your mouth tightly shut wen outside unlike a guy i knew who had to wash his mouth 12 times before he was convinced he could eat again

yes there are loads of crane fly's this year. they only live for 3 days. still 3 days too long if you ask me.

yep - it is a big year for them but they only live for 3 days and then they die, they're just born, mate then die - better than the May fly which only lives for a day!
