How do you know that they are lying about that? Maybe they do know what you are going through. Many people can relate to problems to a certain degree. People are just trying to help, if you don't want advice, or anyone to listen, then don't say anything to anyone, keep your problems to yourself. Simple as that.

In those situations, I'm getting better at communicating with people- I say "I have NO idea how awful that must be for you! I simply have never had anything that terrible happen. How horrible for you! I'm so sorry to hear that!"
Remember that mostly people at least are trying to be nice, maybe they could pick a better approach, but these are times when I think you have to give tham a good grade for at least being kind.

Because a person who is being honest and kind DOES know what you are going through. We are all the same for the most part.
Also, as you get older you learn that the "details" don't matter, they just get in the way of making good decisions.

It's called being sympathetic. If you don't want anyone to to try to help you feel better don't tell them your problems or let them know you don't want to talk about a situation.
