The CD-ROM packed up - I bought a secondhand DVD-ROM drive module. It fits, fine, powers up the drive but it doesnt plug and play, and I cant see it using Drive Manager. Any ideas about where to go next? Running XP Home SP2.

Thanks

Check the manufacturers web site for drivers.

Check with the manufacturer for XP drivers. Try to get in to the bios and make sure it is enabled - usually do that by pressing delete or escape on boot up. This may work. Press start, right click My computer. Properties. Click the hardware tab at the top of the window. Then device manager. Find DVD.CD drive and click the + sign. Right click and choose scan for hardware changes. If that doesn't work uninstall it and reboot. Or try update driver. Often whatever you do you have reboot after.

You should run Add new hardware in the control panel and let it perform a check for non- plug and play devices.

Hope that helped.
