if i were to buy an old tractor and trailor and teach people to drive so they could get their CDL and get a better paying job.

i imagine finding the right kind of students would be the most difficult problem. i dont want freeloaders who wont do anything with the skills i will be investing my time and money in giving them. ...id like people who are trying to make it but just cant and need some extra help. maybe some churches could help me locate these type of people.

what do you think about this? would i get any tax breaks or anything like that because this would be for charity? do you think the students would benefit from something like this?

I would like to be in control of my own charity but i dont want to waste my time and money. ...so what do you think?

I am not sure, but I think you have to be a accredited school by the state to become a a cdl licensed trainer. You should look into it . Although it sounds great I would love to become cdl licensed, they make great money.

This may work. But, it would require a lot of planning. http://www.irs.gov many have information if this would be Tax deductible, you just have to search around. I know there a Tax I.D. for this or a Form you fill out for being a Tax Exempt Organization. I understand why you want to be in control, if, your heart is in the right place it is good. Many organizations make a good paycheck for those wanting to help. I am like you, I just give and not expect anything in return, especially for making money. I devote My time and MY money. I not ask for donations from anyone, God will provide in my work. Though I have had people give me money under my opposition to this. I tell them I can not give a Tax Deduction Receipt. They understand and want to help my work. BUT, every penny that has been given to me 100% has gone toward my work, NOTHING, has gone into my pocket, and I intend to keep it that way. I am smart enough to make a living on my own and not have to use donated money for my own personal gain as many Charitable Organizations do!!!! I really hope you can Pull this off. I know many will not agree with this Idea, but, you may check with Prisons for people going on parole. It would help provide them a new honest life IF, IF, they stick with it and actually a good paying job starting over, this just a suggestion.

While I think it is a wonderful idea, it would not really be possible with all the possible leghal pitfalls. The insurance would be astronomical, as well as advertising to target the right group, having a safe location, etc.

I like what you are aiming at though- and maybe there are some programs to help people to get jobs that you could try to help with, and maybe assist in. But as a solo venture, I wouldnt suggest following your plan.

Take care and good luck.

I think it would be a waste of time since a lot of companies out there will pay for you to go to school as long as you hire on with them, some actually pay you while you go to school. ie; JB Hunt, Schneider, etc. If they can't get hired by one of these companies it wouldn't matter if they knew how to drive or not their unemployable
