The short answer is: No one except team president Larry Quinn (whose "bright idea" this was) and his immediate family.
The logo is quite hideous, resembling everything from a slug to a bad toupee to a legless buffalo to a colostomy bag. Most Buffalo Sabres fans, including myself, can't stand this abomination and have already signed the online petition (http://www.petitiononline.com/sbrslogo/petition.html ) asking for its removal and replacement with something respectable. The signature total is around 30,000, which is a pretty impressive statement of disapproval.
The return to the original team colours (blue and gold) has generally been well-received, though the royal blue has been darkened to midnight blue and the yellow gold is now maize. Still, a tweak on the classic logo and I think most would be satisfied with the change. But "sluggalo" is unacceptable and embarrassing to true Sabres fans, to say nothing of the much maligned city of Buffalo, NY.
If we're lucky (and owner Tom Golisano isn't terribly stubborn), we may be able to convince the organization to ditch this ugly new logo in time for next season. There is a precedent. Just over a decade ago the NY Islanders changed from their original logo to the flipping Gorton's fisherman. Islanders fans voted their disapproval loudly -- and with their wallets -- and management changed back to the original design the following year. Come on, Sabres fans, we can do the same!

I like it. I also like the new colors better than the old ones.
I would prefer yellow and dark blue (the traditional colors of the Sabres dating back to the beginning) versus yellow and black, but still, it's a step forward.
The logo from last year, the white buffalo head with red eyes and red (uck) nostrils, that one was BAD!

UGLY!!! how do they go from one of the best looking uniforms, to the biggest eye sore. Someone should get fired for that.

It looks like and angry squirrel. I swore the body of the buffalo was a squirrel's tail the first time I saw it.
