u forget that white americans actually came from europe.. so u are immigrants as well. instead of thinking u are the OG's of america, remember ur history and roots, that America was actually inhabited by indians first, and that we ALL are immigrants, allowed to live together in a "melting pot". we are not perfect, which is why instead of focusing on OTHER people's racism, just try to work on Yourself and your beliefs, try to teach Good things, Learn good thing, Grow into someone who can be Open minded to any race. founding a WET just because there is a BET makes no sense... stop thinking negatively. they founded BET to be proud thru all the obstacles they and their ancestors have faced. it's not necessarily "right", but neither is forming a WET just to spite them. stop spreading hate, stop it right now, first thru Yourself, and hopefully ur children. quit worrying about what other people do, worry about what yOU do.

Honestly you have somewhat of a point. However, you must understand that this country (which I love) is and has been run and controlled by Caucasian Americans. And we, LIKE EVERY OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD (get that through your head people racial oppression is not just an American or White problem), have a history of oppressing other races. Most of the African American protective organizations have legitimate roots for protecting Blacks from White suppression. American colleges would not accept black students, we all know this, so black universities were created to educate deserving students. Scholarships were not (and probably still aren't) very accessible to black students so they created a fund to help black students pay for school. BET is a channel with black-centric programming, you don't find black-centric programming any where else, think about it, I don't find any thing offensive about BET, you have channels for kids, you have channels for women you have channels for men, you've got 15 rediculous spanish language channels for godsake ( that I do find offensive, our language is English). The NAACP was formed to protect Blacks from White suppresion, it has since been bastardized, but at its root it was a worthwhile and just organization. And understand about Black History Month we pretty much have White History year so don't begrudge them a month of learning about their colture. Plus as Sun Tzu said "know your enemy as you know yourself and in all things you will be victorious" (relax that's a joke people not a very good one I know) The other, non-black organizations are less legitimate because there is not the history of oppresion of those races in our society and they seem to be setup to take control not to help.

It's interesting that the only racial slur word blanked out in your post is that N word (not sure if you did that or the website does that). I have never understood why that word above all others is so offensive but I am white (Italian-Irish). I do understand that that word more than any of the others was used almost violently toward slaves and carried on after slavery was abolished. However, I don't feel that word has the same connotation now it once had. In the late 80's N.W.A. embraced that word and gave it power. I have been known to call my friends MY N---s and mean absolutely no slight to blacks, it has become a term that means more than friend, buddy, pal whatever, it has come to mean a shared experience beyond mere friendship almost a bloodline.

There is another problem in the use of the word racist. Racism means to hold ones race above all others. In and of itself not a bad thing racial pride is acceptable (in a perfect world we wouldn't have to worry or think about the race of a person but the character, but this isn't a perfect world), racial prejudice is what we are talking about. Presuming someone is inferior because of their race, that is not only wrong but stupid. Discounting someone because of the color of their skin, harms you more than them because you are probably underestimating them. Likewise to overestimate someone of your own race is stupid, there are many more white idiots than idiots of other races because we are the majority race.

What is MTV? It is somewhat a mix of all recent music, but mostly white.
As far as Black History month, if you actually paid attention in school you'd realize that out of a 9 month school year, 8 months of it is about WHITE history. How often is Harriet Tubman, George Washington Carver or Langston Hughes mentioned in an ordinary history class? They're not. American History is my major and they are barely mentioned.
No police officer is supposed to beat anyone up, especially if they are not a threat or in handcuffs. It is just that racist WHITE officers do that so they can feel better about themselves.
HAVE YOU EVER WATCHED AN EPISODE OF ROOTS? Maybe you should so that you and answer your own questions. Were WHITE people treated that way? Were they beat constantly? Were they taken from their homes, put on a ship, and forced to work for other races? If so I never seen any videos or or read about it in any history books. Maybe you should research more about the subject.

White people do have support groups. What about the KKK? Or did we forget about that?

You honestly cannot say, as a white guy, that you know what it's like to be a black or hispanic or asian in our society.

The reason why minorities get all of those 'advantages' you named- scholarships, whatever, is because historically minorities have not had these opportunities. White people in today's society will still get most of the top jobs and make more money than most minorities. White people are still more likely to go to college, get married, and live longer.

White history month is kind of stupid, isn't all history we are taught 'white history'? White Pride groups are racist. They do not celebrate 'White Pride.' They celebrate hating other racial groups, or praising Hitler, or other equally stupid things.

Read a few books about race relations, or better yet, take a class. I did, and it changed the way I view things. Stop being so angry. I'm white, and I think it's great that these different racial and ethnic groups, clubs, TV channels, whatever, exist. It's not just a white world anymore, my friend.

I have to agree with you. I'm not remotely racist but I understand the double standards you are talking about. It seems it's okay to be proud of your colour as long as it's not white.

I understand this though, white people have a lot to answer for. In the grand scale of things it's only very recent history that we have all become equal so we should be proud that we live in a world where people can celebrate their roots and who they are without being killed for it. I like it that people can create whatever they like and tailor it to their own needs and beliefs. Let's not forget that your race is a common identity so of course it makes sense to do things together.

But I do know where your coming from, I thought the same when the MOBO (Music Of Black Origin) awards were on tv, I dont begrudge it but there would never be a MOWO awards.
