My husband is going for a vasectomy today. How bad does it hurt afterward and how long does the pain last?

Actually, I have had a tubal ligation surgery. He decided to get a vasectomy because he doesn't want children with anyone else either and for "extra protection," you could say. I have three kids and he's got one besides the one we have together. That makes four kids and that is enough.

Not bad at all. I had this procedure done about 8 years ago, and have recommended it to several people. I really didnt experience any noticeable pain at all. I followed the Dr's post op advice and was back to work in 2 days. He will need to prohibit from all heavy lifting for 10-14 days, and of course continue to use protection for the next 4-6 weeks. He will be told to ejaculate approximately 20-30 times before taking a sample in for test screening for active sperm. I feel this is the best method for couples that are content with their family's size. Good Luck.

Had it done on a Friday morning never took a pain pill built a huge snowman with the kids on Saturday Be sure he wears an athletic supporter as the worse pain was from the bruising at the top of the scrotum. Gravity pulling on the scrotum made the bruised area hurt. Even tried a manual test fire on saturday no pain involved it worked like a charm. The ejaculate appears to be a bit more watery though after the surgery. Btw the dr had the softest hands

My husband said the proceedure took maybe an hour. As long as you follow the doctor's orders and take it easy it's not so bad. Tylenol 3 helps with some of pain. My husband decided to do too much that day and caused his testicles to swell to the size of a grapefruit. He also tore out his stich. He was sore for about 2 weeks.

I'll never understand why guys have vasectomies. Don't they realize that doesn't stop babies. Hardly anyone is faithful anymore. The only sure way to be safe is for the woman to get fixed.

3 days of minor discomfort, plus a month of still using protection, then his working model will be a sport model.
