Make sure the shop you go to is clean and credible. There is also a spray on oil I know of that works great after you get your tattoo if you want to check it out. It keeps the skin moisturized and not cause it to scab. It's the tattoil.

There are plenty of dangers you need to know about getting a tattoo, first make sure the person is licensed and insured. If so, you may pay more. Second, should there be any complication from the procedure, you're on your own. Also, deceases follow some procedure, because the equipment was not cleaned properly. Later in life, your grand kid may look at you and say, Oh my god granny, were you a skank or a biker girl that got passed around to all the other bikers. I'm sure your skin looks well enough, for you not to get a tattoo. Before you get a tattoo, you may want to try one of those kind that last for a week or so, to make sure its what you want on your body. because once the ink goes on and in, there is no turning back, and if you have it removed, its gonna cost more than the tattoo.

You should go to a reputable tattoo artist. Make sure the shop is clean. ***Ask*** about how they sterilize their equipment. After you have your tattoo placed, they sometimes keep it covered with Vaseline and a gauze for a couple of days. Keep the gauze on since it really still is an open wound to prevent something getting in it.
The main infectious dangers are the same as what can be passed by IV drug users or body piercings, most commonly hepatitis C.
Just use good common sense and go to a reputable artist/shop.

I am also researching for a tattoo....here are a few tips:
*go to a reputable parlor...not someones kitchen, basement, etc.
*talk to the artist that will be doing your tattoo...they can answer all your questions and are not bothered by it at all
*I visited the parlor and also spoke to someone who was there getting their tattoo and to their past clients just to get a feel for it.
Remember...it is a needle so make sure they're clean and use excellent sanitation methods.

Yes, there are alot of dangers but the one you should probably worry about it not being to take it off.. Unless u pay good money for it.. I like the lick on tattoos but nothing temporary. I always felt that art should be on a painting or a wall.

first you need to be sure that you like what you're getting - trust me - i've already had two cover-ups! also, research the tattoo artist - be sure you like his style and skill, etc. the very important part is to watch him get the equipment ready - is it clean, sterilized, new needle straight from the package? oh yeah - and be sure you eat before so you don't get sick!

make sure that the needle is sterile and just because its packaged up doesnt mean its new. it can be used and just repackaged (much more common pratice than you think)
