Honestly, people pay 45-50 thousand dollars to go to China, Russia and other places to adopt. Why do we allow this nonsense when there are so many wonderful needy children here that want and need good homes? How sad.

I am not trying to take away anyones "rights" but we need to take care of our own- no someone elses. It isn't my fault that China doesn't like girls and Russia has issues- I think the government should change the laws about adoption within the US and cease adoption outside of it. And Tweedy778- I agree whoelheartedly! And BTW- I am from Ohio- loser.

I guess those that adopt outside the country feel they are doing a "GREATER" service. I believe we should take care of our own before trying to take care of someone else's. There are children that have been in the "system" for so long that they lose faith in their fellow people. All because if you go to another ocuntry you might be able to pick out everything you want in a "perfect" child. Its sad that we don't do more to help the youth of America and then shake are heads when they turn out wrong!

People want babies. It can take years within the US for a baby, wheras overseas you can often adopt within a year.
The adoption process is no less expensive within the united states. I have friends that adopted from Russia and within the US, and it was around 30G for the overseas and 25G for the domestic. I think the question should be, why do people want white babies when there are so many children of all ages and ethnicities that need loving homes.

I think yes. Well, we do have a lot of kids that need homes here, but in China No one wants the girls. Do you realize that the orfange's are crowded with baby girls? If I had to adopt I would go to china. But yes we do have a lot of kids here that need it. but China and Russia are 10 times worse. NOT that American children are any less important.

I have considered adopting here in the United States, but the waiting period is ridiculously long not to mention you have have the child for several years only to have a biological parent come and take the child. When you adopt from another country you have less hassle and that is very unfortunate for the children here in the United States.

That's because it is almost impossible to adopt here. There is so much red tape and B.S. that in the time it takes to go across the world you could be giving a child a home and still be on a waiting list when you got back from china etc...

When all white couple is adopting a black or Asian kind, that's of course wonderful, but very obvious to everyone that the kid was adapted. And there is such shortage of white kids to adapt in America. That's why people are adapting from Russia. BTW, if you could compare the conditions these kids live with in U.S. and in Russia, you'd be pulling for Russian children also.

A child is a child no matter what country they live in. They all need homes regardless of where they live. In other countries they do not have what we have. There are so many opportunities for children to get what they want here then they do in other countries. I wish every child can find a home with loving care.

Why do you get to tell people what they are allowed to do? If you want to try to persuade someone to adopt an American child, go right ahead, but if they would rather adopt a child from another country, for whatever reason, isn't that their business?
I thought in this country, we believe in personal freedom. That means that if I want to send all my money to help people in another country, I have every right to do that. I might even want to marry someone from another country, or adopt a baby from another country. That might not be your choice, but why on earth would you want to prevent someone from doing that just because you disapprove?

Its sad but true.. It is sad because our adoption laws are so strict and make it near impossible to adopt so people revert to going to other countries to adopt where the adoptions laws are more relaxed.

the US is just ridiculous. Always getting involved international affairs instead of trying to fix the plethora of problems we have at home!
