I have a MySpaceBand page, and I want to create some music pieces to upload there. What can I do short of buying something? Can any recording on the internet be converted into an MP3? Sorry...totally lame about this. Basically, I want to get my voice onto the page in order to generate interest. Thanks!

To record your voice try using a recording program called Audacity. It can be downloaded for free. The program records in .WAV file but you can then convert the .WAV file to .MP3 using a program like iTunes.

To convert a song's format in iTunes

In iTunes select Edit > Preferences> Advanced tab> Importing tab> Import Using: MP3 Encoder > Setting: Custom (this should bring up a Customization window).

Select the following settings for ideal file formatting:

Stereo bit rate = 128 kbps
Sample rate= 44.100 kHz
Channels= Auto
Stereo Mode = Normal

Click OK to save and then OK again to close out.

Then to convert your existing file go back into the Playlist screen, right click on the file you want to convert and select "Convert to MP3". To check the settings of your file right click on the file and select " Get Info" and this will show you your file's current settings.
