Chamber of Commerce, and then we just have the plain
Chamber of Commerce.

are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the
US, yet if there were "White colleges" that would be a
racist college.

Why is it that only whites can be racists?

The Reverend (and I use that term loosely) Louis Farrakhan IS racist. He hates whitey and Jews. He is blatantly open about it and no one calls him on it.
The fact of the matter is, racism is a two way street. People tend to think traditionally that only whites are racist but I've encountered a few minority folk who are every bit as bad as the KKK- an organization I abhor. The media won't point out when a black is racist as readily as they will a white guy. David Duke comes to mind.
Too bad the melting pot is coagulating thanks to political correctness. There will never be peace among the races as long as there are those out there who practice PC and forever point out the color of one's skin. I don't care what color you are- if you're a nice person then you're a nice person. If you're a jerk then you're a jerk. I've encountered both in ALL races. I believe in equality for all not just a segment of society.
We are all AMERICANS. PERIOD!!!!

i agree, to a point. the whole reason for the NAACP and all the other organizations and holidays is because minorities didn't have a lot of rights until recently. i mean really, segregation ended in my parents lifetime and i'm only 25. i still see racism - on both sides! i don't think that most of the things you listed are racist, i think they are organizations that have outlived their usefulness. the holidays however, we keep. we celebrate george washington, abraham lincoln, & columbus - why can't we celebrate king and chavez? they did great things just like washington, lincoln, & columbus (who we celebrate for making a mistake). they were pioneers, they did put their lives on the line - king did die for his beliefs. and before you say soldiers die, we have veterens day and memorial day.
so i don't know that's all that is racist so much as outdated.

I will agree that this situation is very frustrating. However, there is one thing that everyone needs to remember...Ignorance comes in every color.
I do believe that each and every one of us needs to be proud of who we are and where we come from, regardless of the color of our skin. Oh...and by the way...did you know that there are white gang-bangers, too? White people car jack and do everything that you claim individuals of other nationalities do. AND we have our own version of BET, it's called MTV. Slow down a minute and look at the big picture. Don't breed hate because you have tunnel vision.

Wow, what a great way to explain things. I think all races are racist to a certain extent. Last night on Survivor, the Asian team got upset with one of their own for telling Asian jokes. The only one that was truly Asian not Asian/American, was a guy from Viet Nam, the one telling the jokes. And besides, why do we attach ___/American to all the other races? Are there Caucasian/Americans? LOL

You're only missing one side of the story. I'm not sure if white people "invented" or discovered" racism but they surely made it famous and spread it out for centuries. They have had slaves from all races since the dawn of times. Personally, I would never call you whitey, white trash or any of those ugly names, but everything changes and maybe, what white people are experiencing now is only the result of ages and ages of slavery. It's not fair if you ask me, but there's not much we can do now to change it. Only to raise our kids without those wrong thoughts about human kind.

I'm African -American and I 'hear' you and even agree that ethnic groups of color shouldn't be the only peoples that deserves to be proud of who they are and their heritage.

I hate to hear caucasians even speak apologetically about their ethnicity.

I don't think its about what color you are but how you think. Whether you know it or not, there are people who are racist against their own race. I've met a few.
It's also b/c some people are just too easlily offended, what you say is very true, but also all these organizations that you name are there to I guess promote diversity.
I think that all these groups are a good thing but they should be open to everyone, not just to one race. And now that I think about it, you are right to feel the way you do. But all the other racial groups get offended so much b/c we have always been prejudiced against. I guess we have just learned to be very defensive. In our own race we call each other those things, but don't allow other races b/c we don't know if your joking or really mean it.

Not only whites can be racists. Many other nationalities and races can be racist too, but they are too afraid to have something like that judge upon them. Instead of being true to whom or what they believe. No matter how harmful it is to some people or not. I agree with you and i am a mixed race person.

It's not only whites that can be racist. My (white) best friend is dating a black man and he's convinced whities keep him down and he doesn't like white people. Said he doesn't want to marry my friend and have half white babies.
He's probably the most racist person I know.
