investments in divorce?

if i have never had an ira, and my husband does, can i ask him to role a certain amount of his into an ira for me? i don't want all of it or half of it, just some as a beginning for me.

Depending on the state laws in which you live, you are entitled to a portion of it. It would make sense to roll your share into another IRA, then you or your ex will not have to pay taxes on it when it is moved.
