depends which teen room youlooking in...an american teen room probably has tons of clothing, photos of friends, some sort of electronic (at least one of the following; stereo, CD player, ipod, computer, TV, DVD player, video game)
other teens in other countries are not so materialistic so youmay just find school books, a normal amount of clothes. studied abroad for many years and i remember going into my classmates/friends rooms and they had no clutter out

Almost guaranteed:
Bed - they don't sleep on the floor.
Dresser - they need somewhere to put clean clothes.
Night stand - for a bedside lamp and alarm clock.
Stereo or radio of some kind - no teen lives without their music, no matter what their taste is.
Dirty clothes hamper.
Some more common items include:
Full length mirror
Table or desk to work at with a chair
Trash can
Phone
Computer
TV
VCR/DVD player
Video game system
Posters and pictures of the people and things they like, i.e. the famous people they are attracted to, favorite music groups and/or lead singers, favorite sports team, etc...
Bookcase or shelving
On a typical day, you'll probably see
Discarded clothing from where they couldn't decide what to wear that morning.
Crumpled homework papers that didn't quite reach the trash can.
Dirty clothing that didn't make it to the hamper.
Soda cans or cups they had a drink in.
Trinkets of things they like, or liked in childhood.
Gender specific
For a girl: makeup, hair brushes and combs, styling products, hair accessories, purses, jewelry box (stand alone or on top of a dresser/table), possibly a vanity, stuffed animals, and tons of shoes.
For a guy: Nude magazines stuffed under the bed, comb, styling products, old sneakers, musical instrument they never play (drums, guitar, keyboard), sports equipment, and tons of tees of their favorite music groups or sports teams.
This is, of course, a generalization. It varies from person to person on what they like, how tidy they are, and how they were raised.
