Actually I have no preference. I know both Scottish and English people and the ones I know are great folks. When you say this is for the Americans though, do you mean the South Americans, Central Americans or Noth Americans. Or do you class us the same?

The same. Most Americans would not be able to tell...unless you told them you are English or Scottish. In any event, most Americans like both the English and Scottish peoples...so it wouldn't matter anyway.

I've never met any Scottish people, so I can't really say. Sadly, we're underexposed to the rest of the world over here - I've gotten most of my education about the world from being online, and reading foreign books. I'd say most people aren't even aware Scotland and Britain are two separate countries and cultures, sadly. I think they're both fascinating cultures, and I'd love to learn more about them.

I do go to a university that was founded in Scottish tradition, though, so I'm kind of familiar with the whole Scottish bagpipes-and-kilts thing.

Both categories are pretty broad for making preferential judgments! But I've got more Celt blood than Anglo-Saxon, so if I *had* to make choices...!

I think that most Americans as a rule don't know a lot about folks from other countries, but they definitely would be able to distinguish between Brits and Scots, much better than they would between, say, Germans and Austrians... of course, a lot of that distinction would be based on stereotypes in the media.

Since I am full-blooded UK----Scottish/Scotch-Irish with an English first, middle and last name, I guess that it really does not matter.

I consider all Commonwealth members as the same. No particular preference, each has their own uniqueness, and each has a different, and completely charming, accent.

I don't prefer either and I don't class them one above the other. I don't consider them the same but I don't judge them on where they come from...that's just ignorant.

You're all the same to me. I'm Puerto Rican, and I think that Americans still confuse me with Cubans and Mexicans. I don't care. I've learned to just ignore it.

We love all Brits! God Bless the UK!

Why? Margaret Thatcher, Honey brown Ale, Whiskey, Tony Blair, the pound - not the euro, etc.... oh yeah... the brits have lovely accents.
